Scouting & recruitment

AI for football scouting and recruitment

Apelot's recruitment agent queries the recruitment team's data platforms to find, compare and document player profiles. Scouts ask their questions in plain language and receive lists, comparisons and reports.

It relies on the event and tracking data the club subscribes to, and on the recruitment team's internal files.

    What the recruitment agent does

    Data scouting

Player search and recommendations from event and tracking data, with filters by position, age, league and statistics.

    Comparison with your starters

Each profile is compared with the players in your squad on the indicators you choose.

    Contextual analysis

Statistics adjusted for the league of origin and the team's playing style.

    Market value

Indicative estimate based on comparable transfers.

    Shortlist and reports

Added to the shortlist, with a report for the recruitment team saved in the club's folder.

    Monitoring

Automated press monitoring on tracked players and transfer opportunities.

    Example: searching for a left-back

Sample conversation with the recruitment agent (fictional data).

Which left-backs under 24 in Ligue 2 and National outperform our starter on crosses and defensive duels?
Three profiles match. The most complete: 2.4 successful crosses and 64% of defensive duels won per match, against 1.6 and 55% for your starter.
    When does his contract expire?
In June 2027. His market value is estimated between €1.2m and €1.6m.
Add him to the shortlist and prepare a report for the recruitment team.
Done. A two-page report is available in the Recruitment folder, with his last 10 matches and the comparison with your starter.

    The data used

The agent connects to the platforms the club subscribes to: Wyscout and Hudl StatsBomb for event data and video, Opta for match statistics, SkillCorner for tracking and physical data. The connection goes through each tool's official API, using the club's own subscriptions.

The club's internal reports, evaluation grids and shortlist (spreadsheets, documents, Notion or Airtable databases) can also be connected.

    The scouts' role

The agent cuts the time spent filtering databases and formatting reports. It replaces neither watching matches nor the recruitment team's judgement: scouts choose the criteria, watch the players and decide.

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions

Which data does the recruitment agent use?

Event and tracking data from the platforms the club subscribes to (Wyscout, Hudl StatsBomb, Opta, SkillCorner), plus the recruitment team's internal files: reports, shortlist, evaluation grids.

Can we use our own recruitment criteria?

Yes. Searches use your filters (position, age, league, statistics) and comparisons cover the indicators you choose, against your starters.

How does the agent estimate a player's market value?

It gives an indicative estimate, calculated from comparable transfers. It is not an official valuation.

    Does AI replace scouts?

No. The agent filters, compares and documents. Scouts watch players, assess what the data does not measure and make the decisions.
